Create a direct internal redirect

Open the correct site card, choose Utils, then Redirects. This route is available to the site owner and Administrator collaborators; Contributors do not receive the redirect authoring action.

Enter the paths exactly

Old path

Enter an internal source path that begins with a single forward slash, such as /old-page. The homepage cannot be a source. Query strings and fragments are not accepted, a leading // is rejected, and trailing slashes are normalized away.

Destination

Enter an internal destination path, such as /new-page. The destination may be the homepage /, but it must already exist in both draft and live content. The current Dashboard redirect tool does not accept an external https URL; link to an external site from page content instead.

Save, edit, and delete

Choose Add redirect to create the rule. Edit loads the existing source and destination into the form; Save redirect replaces that rule. Delete asks for confirmation and removes the route from both draft and live routing.

Creates and edits are written to the draft and live site together, then public caches are cleared. The Routing rules list reports whether the matching rule is live; Refresh reloads the current list.

Avoid conflicts and loops

The source cannot be an existing page or a source already used by another redirect. Source and destination must differ. Because the destination must be a real page rather than another redirect, create one direct hop to the final internal page instead of a chain.

Test the result

1. Save the redirect and confirm its row and live state.

2. Open the old public URL in a fresh Chrome session or private window.

3. Confirm that the browser arrives at the intended public page and that its content loads.

4. Test important bookmarked query strings separately; the Dashboard rule itself is stored without a query string or fragment.

Responsive and accessible use

On smaller screens, the source, destination, and action controls stack, and routing rows change from a multi-column layout to a vertical reading order. Search and Refresh remain above the list.

Use the Old path and Destination labels, not placeholders alone. Move through Add redirect, Edit, Delete, Search, and Refresh with Tab; read confirmation and error text before continuing.

Common mistakes checklist

• Do not enter a full external URL as Destination.

• Do not use the homepage, an existing page, or a query string as Old path.

• Do not delete a rule until old links no longer need it.

• Re-test redirects after domain or page-path changes.
