No spam. Unsubscribe anytime.

Build a focused signup experience

The Newsletter block combines a heading, supporting copy, email field, submit button, consent or reassurance text, and the messages shown after submission. Use it when the visitor should understand the value of subscribing before entering an address.

The live demo above is the actual Luna Newsletter block. Edit it from Properties, then use the Style Panel only for the parts that need a local visual treatment.

Add a Newsletter block

1. Add a Section where the signup should appear, then add Newsletter from the Interactive category.

2. Write the Title, Description, Email Placeholder, Button Text, and Disclaimer before changing the layout.

3. Give the form a clear Form Name so stored responses are easy to identify.

4. Configure the success and error states, then test the published form with a valid address and an invalid address.

5. Check Inline and Stacked layouts at desktop, tablet, and mobile widths.

Content and submission destination

Title states the offer. Description explains what subscribers receive and how often. Disclaimer is the right place for a short privacy or unsubscribe note. Email Placeholder should look like an email example, not replace a visible explanation of the field.

Form Name labels the collected responses in Luna. Submit URL is optional: use it only when the form must post to a specific external endpoint. When no endpoint is supplied, the published block uses its local submission feedback.

After submission

Success Message confirms the signup without forcing the visitor to guess what happened. Error Message should explain that the submission failed and invite another attempt without blaming the visitor.

Enable Send Confirmation Email only when a follow-up message is useful. Email Subject and Email Body appear when the option is enabled. The template accepts subscriber placeholders such as {name} and {email}; preview the final message and avoid promising content that is not actually sent.

Configure the confirmation email

Enable Send Confirmation Email in Newsletter Properties, add an Email Subject, and compose the Email Body in Rich Text or HTML. The message is sent only after Luna accepts the signup, so test the submission feedback and the received email.

Configure Email / SMTP for delivery

Confirmation emails require a site-level SMTP server. From Dashboard, open the site’s Settings and configure Email / SMTP as the site owner. Without SMTP, signups can still be stored, but Luna cannot deliver the confirmation message. See SMTP & Email Delivery for the complete setup.

Review newsletter signups

From the site card in Dashboard, open Utils → Form responses. On the Responses page, select Newsletter; use the Form filter when the site contains more than one newsletter block.

Layout and appearance

Container Style offers Card, Outline, Soft, and Plain. Surface Color controls the container, while Color controls the accent. Layout switches between Inline and Stacked; Alignment positions the content.

Input Style offers Outline, Filled, and Underline. Input Size and Button Size control density. Shadow, Padding, Field Gap, Button Style, and Corner Radius finish the component without changing its submission behavior.

Style Panel targets

Style Body, Title, Description, Label, Input, Button, Disclaimer, Success, and Error independently. The Button supports hover styling; success and error surfaces should remain readable and recognizable without relying on color alone.

Test the complete signup flow

Verify focus order from the email field to the button, keyboard submission, loading feedback, the success message, the error message, and the optional confirmation email. Keep touch targets comfortable and make the disclaimer readable on mobile.

Tips and common mistakes

• Explain the benefit and frequency instead of using only “Subscribe”.

• Do not use placeholder text as the only accessible label or instruction.

• Keep the form compact; excessive padding or an oversized section weakens the call to action.

• Test both success and failure states before publishing.

Quick recipe

Use a short value-led title, one sentence of context, an email example, a specific button label, a concise consent note, and clear success and error messages. Start with Inline on wide layouts and confirm that it wraps cleanly on smaller screens.
